Glowy the Firefly: The Tiny Hero Who Conquered the Dark

Glowy was a little firefly. His bottom could do something truly magical: it could light up! Blink… blink… went his golden glow.

But Glowy had a secret. He was afraid of the night! To him, the nighttime felt like a giant, scary “big-black-nothing.”

Glowy’s friends would fly around happily. They looked like tiny dancing stars in the garden. But Glowy didn’t fly. He stayed hidden deep inside a bright yellow flower. He would squeeze his eyes shut and turn off his little light. “The dark is just too big,” he would whisper, shivering.

A Cry in the Night

One night, the moon was hiding behind the clouds. It was very, very dark. Suddenly, Glowy heard a tiny sound. “Boo-hoo… Boo-hoo…”

Someone was crying! It was Misty, a tiny moth. She was lost in the shadows, bumping her wings against the leaves. Flap! Thump! Flap! Thump!

“I can’t see a thing! Help!” Misty cried.

Glowy felt a tug in his heart. Misty needed help. He needed to be brave.

The Power of a Spark

Glowy took a deep breath. He crawled out of his flower. The darkness was right in front of him. Glowy squeezed his tummy with all his might. Push! Push!

And then… FLASH! A beautiful, bright green light shined from Glowy’s bottom.

Glowy opened his eyes and gasped. What a surprise! It wasn’t dark near him anymore. His light pushed the shadows far away! He was standing inside a warm, cozy bubble of light.

Misty the moth saw the glow. “Hooray! A little light!” she said, feeling happy again. She flew right over to Glowy. She was safe at last.

The Light Within

Glowy felt wonderful. He discovered that he didn’t need to be afraid of the dark anymore. Do you know why? Because he carries the light right inside him!

That very night, Glowy flew high into the sky, blinking and shining for the whole world to see.
