Moral of the Story: It’s not about how loud you shout, but how much heart you put into what you do. True light comes from a place of gratitude and joy.

Red rooster crows at sunrise on farm with cow and horse.

The Golden Oak Farm was still dipped in the deep, silent blue of the early dawn. The air carried the fresh scent of damp earth, and the morning dew made the grass feel chilly beneath little paws.

On the lowest perch of the chicken coop, Rusty was already wide awake. He was a young rooster with bright red feathers and a tiny, delicate comb that looked like a wild little strawberry.

Rusty’s Big Challenge

This was going to be an unforgettable day. Old Barnaby, the veteran king of the barnyard, had a terrible hoarse throat after catching a chill in the rain. “Rusty…” the old rooster coughed. “Today, the mission to call the sun belongs to you.”

Rusty felt his thin little legs tremble. Wake up the Sun? That immense, powerful ball of fire? He stepped out of the coop on tiptoe, hearing only the rhythmic chirp-chirp of the crickets and the deep snoring of Bessie the Cow in the stable.

As he climbed the wooden fence, he felt the rough, damp texture under his claws. The horizon was covered in heavy, gray clouds. It seemed the sun had decided to sleep in, wrapped in a blanket of fog.

The Melody from the Heart

Rusty puffed out his chest and tried: “Cock-a-doodle-doo!” But the sound came out thin and shaky, like a kitten’s sneeze. Nothing changed. The world stayed gray and sleepy.

Then, the Old Horse, resting nearby, opened one wise eye and offered a tip: “The sun doesn’t wake up to noise, little one. It wakes up to joy. It needs to feel that today is worth rising for.”

Rusty stopped and took a deep breath. He looked at a tiny yellow flower opening in a gap in the fence and smelled the sweet scent of the guava tree. A warm feeling of gratitude began to vibrate in his throat. He didn’t want to just shout anymore; he wanted to say thank you for being alive.

The Golden Sunrise

He let out the purest, most musical crow the farm had ever heard: “COCK-A-DOODLE-DOOOOOOO!”

As if the clouds were stage curtains, a ray of golden light pierced the gray. The sun, drawn by that happy song, stretched across the horizon, painting the sky in shades of orange, pink, and lilac. The animals woke up in celebration! Bessie the cow mooed happily, and the day finally began.

Rusty hopped down from the fence feeling like a giant. He discovered that to make someone’s day shine, you don’t need the loudest voice—you just need to let your heart sing first.
